About WIFLV - Historical Overview
Women in Film was founded in Los Angeles in 1973 by Tichi Wilkerson Kassel (former publisher and editor-in-chief of The Hollywood Reporter) and a group of women who represented various facets of the film and television industry. It was created to recognize, develop, and actively promote the unique visions of women in the field of communications.
Today, there are over 40 chapters worldwide spanning 4 continents, 18 countries and 10,000 global members.
In 2002, Phyllis Cesare-Taie established the 44th Chapter of WIF in Las Vegas, Nevada. Its core and founding members consist of a dynamic and diverse group of independent producers, writers, administrative and managerial personnel, looking to enhance and improve education and employment opportunities in Las Vegas, Nevada.
WIF Las Vegas members consist of professional and qualified women and men who work within all facets of the entertainment industry and film related media. (Ranging from producers, make-up, catering, editing, agents, special effects, photographers, communications, and the like.)
WIF Las Vegas is part of the international network WIFTI (Women in Film & Television International). WIFTI is the global network comprised of all these member chapters dedicated to advancing professional development and achievement for women working in all areas of film, video, and other screen-based media.
As WIF Las Vegas is a membership organization, all dues-paying individuals currently up-to-date with their membership dues, may take advantage of the benefits WIFTI offers.
Women in Film Las Vegas is a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to advancing professional development and achievement for women working in all areas of film, video, multimedia, and related disciplines.
